- Piano Course
The Music for Little Mozarts for Piano is a 2 years course, designed
for preschool children between 4 - 6 years of age.
The concept od the course is to create a balance between the
necessary techniques required for playing the piano, whilst making
the experience fun and enjoyable.
In order to relate more aptly to pre-school children, the Music
for Little Mozarts course incorporates two soft-toy characters
known as Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse (pictured left), who
are on a journey to learn all about music.
In addition, the course uses 3 comprehensive books as a guide,
- Music Lesson Book
- Music Workbook
- Music Discovery
Using Flash Cards
In the Music for Little Mozarts course, flash cards are large
coloured cards, used to help focus children on a single isolated
idea or concept. The purpose of the flash cards is to assist children
in memorising basic principles more readily.
For example, a flash card may contain a picture of a treble clef
on a pink card. As a teacher, Tim would then ask the child everything
about the treble clef.
As a piano teacher, Tim uses reward stickers to both empower
and encourage children as they progress. Stickers may be given
for correct answers, great playing, or even interesting ideas.
The 2 most important aspects when teaching young children music,
are repetition and listening.
Each of the exercises undertaken by the child in their Music for Little Mozarts
music book, have an accompanying CD. This is ideal for 'listening
practice' between lessons, and encourages parents to get involved.
